The grindworks South Africa Team
I was a junior provincial player in South Africa before getting a scholarship in the US (Meridan College in Mississippi). Currently I’m a scratch but years back I shot my best round of 66.
Currently in my bag is the GW 400 driver, GW 300 Fairway Woods, coupled with the PR202 irons, the full set of 86Raw wedges and my favorite club the 1810 putter.
After playing golf for almost 30 years, I remain ‘very’ average but I love it. There’s nothing better than being with my mates, out in the sun. I was once a 10 handicap, but now hover around 12.
I use MC333’s, the Majin Driver, and Variant Fairway Woods.
I only have one eagle, I nailed it from 158 meters, and my partner on the day (who saw it drop) didn’t even celebrate…. never played with him again.
I was ‘late’ to golf, I only started to play and understand the game in my late teens. But it was at a casual job in the UK after school as a golf hardware salesperson I learnt to love the art and science of golf clubs.
On returning to SA, I got a PGA Diploma from the Golf School of Excellence covering technical aspects of a swing, the physical and mental side of the game, and retail.
I’ve coached (locally and in the US), I’ve caddied (Sunshine Tour, for the last ten years or so) and learnt through two decades of being hands-on.
By the numbers; my lowest handicap was a +4, lowest score is a 61, I’ve never had a hole-in-one but I’ve had 2 albatross’.
In my bag is a combo set of irons (MB101 blades and PR202’s), the GW 400 Driver, the GW200 Hybrid and the 86Raw wedges – best clubs I’ve ever used.
It’s the feel… fact!
